Nathan Lane breaks down recalling Elaine

Everybody, Rise! A Celebration of Elaine Stritch, was an all-star tribute to the life and career of the late Tony and Emmy-winning actress, that took place, on Monday, Nov. 17 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York. Stritch passed away in July at the age of 89. (And as you’ll hear Bernadette Peters say, she exited on her own terms.) Produced and organized by director George C. Wolfe, it had reminiscences and/or performances by a host of theater luminaries, including Betty Buckley, Christine Ebersole, Laura Benanti, Michael Feinstein, Nathan Lane, Lena Hall, Holland Taylor and the legendary columnist Liz Smith. Rob Bowman, Ms. Stritch’s longtime musical director, was musical director for the event. Go here to see and hear the legendary recording Hal Prince speaks of in his remarks, The Ladies Who Lunch from Company. OMG, tell me there was EVER anyone remotely like her.
