It was a thrill to see John Cameron Mitchell reprising the role of Hedwig on Broadway, after seeing the original production 20 years ago and and then the movie version. Not a line around the corner, but literally around the block! John hasn’t gained one pound or drooped anywhere on his face or body and he still commands the stage with the same kick-ass body language and perfect comic timing. The songs still rock and a packed house of the downtown crew cheered him on at the dress rehearsal, which included some new and very funny bits about grindr and selfies, since the original production happened before the internet and cellphones. Yikes! How time does fly. Glad to see this gay rock hero now doing his thang on Broadway as I’m still doing my thang here on..um…well…Facebook. But I’m toying with the idea of writing my very own vehicle in a similar vein. How does HOGWIG AND THE ANGRY CINCH sound to you? Back rolls? I got side rolls!
