22-year-old Australian, Matthew Carpenter, made headlines this month ago with ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com, which I posted about here. Their appeal was brilliantly simple:
Ready to f*ck up someones day? Ship some glitter now for only $9.99.
The response to the site was so overwhelming that he went on Product Hunt to ask users to PLEASE stop buying his product. He then put the site up for sale on Flippa and after 345 bids, he took $85,000. Not a bad payday, considering he launched the site just 2 weeks ago ago. Since then it’s gotten 2.5 million hits!
Carpenter just couldn’t keep up with the demand. Within the first few hours he got 2,000 orders. Overwhelmed, he removed the ability to order the product from his site, pissing off social media, eager to use his services. No one knows who the new owner is yet, but clearly, there’s a demand to hound enemies with the messy, sparkly stuff. (via Mashable)
