Well, it seems everyone took the princess theme to heart at last night’s big Cinderella premiere in Los Angeles, with big sparkly ball gowns and big sparkly jewels being the norm. I have no plans to see it, of course, because I already know how it ends –but check out the stars and their kids on the red carpet anyway, after the jump.
Lily James, who plays the titular heroine, is really living the fantasy here. God bless. But I’m sorry, she’s not Cinderella. She’s Lady Rose from Downton Abbey and that’s that. She can wear all the shimmering Ele Saab she wants, but she’s not fooling me.
Likewise, yeah sure, I can pretend this is Prince Charming, but we all know it’s really Rob Stark, who somehow survived the Rains of Castamere and is hiding out in this remote kingdom, plotting how he’ll overthrow the Lannisters once and for all.
And what’s this skullery maid doing all dressed up in some borrowed finery? So many problems with the casting of this movie.
Also: What’s Grumpy Cat doing here? Swear to god, this freaking cat leads a better life than I do. It actually ANGERS ME to this.
Sharknado star Ian Ziering brings his little princess.
As did Mario Lopez.
Ali Landry channels Paula Abdul, circa 1990. Or maybe Nancy Kerrigan. Can’t quite pinpoint what she’s going for here.
Holliday Granger goes art-pop princess , and while I appreciate that she’s thinking outside the box, it looks like she was attacked with a tar brush. WHICH IS FINE. But I think she thought it made a bigger statement than it does.
And Cate Blanchett forgoes the Disney trappings altogether and keeps it “uptown chic” in Céline. Which is why I love her so much.
