OK. I’ll apologize, right off. I usually HATE these things, but my friend Veronica sent me this, I read it and thought if I posted it, a life could actually be saved. So, roll your eyes all you want, but read this, please…

It’s 7.30 PM and you’re home all alone.

Suddenly, you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home, but you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness…

Victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

I looked it up, in case you think this is BS, or just an old wive’s tale, this is from the American Heart Association:

During a sudden arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm), it may be possible for a conscious, responsive person to cough forcefully and repetitively to maintain enough blood flow to the brain to remain conscious for a few seconds until the arrhythmia is treated. Blood flow is maintained by increased pressure in the chest that occurs during forceful coughs. This has been mislabeled “cough CPR,” although it’s not really a form of “traditional” resuscitation.

Every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart attack. 525,000 of these are a first-time heart attack.

Of all the odd things we share online, why not share THIS? It really could save a life –and now that you know the info, that life could be your own.
