I’ve had this video on my desktop for a couple days now, I must have watched it a dozen times. It hurts my heart, actually. Haven’t we all been there? Trying to get the popular boy’s attention, and failing? Ugh. It’s like high school all over again.
At the G7 Summit gathering of world leaders, Obama was speaking with Italy’s prime minister and the managing director of the IMF (i.e. “the cool kids”) when poor, nebbishy Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi toddles over in his little brown Men’s Warehouse suit, and tries to get Obama’s attention. The prez appears to be unaware of his presence, and after a few minutes stands to leave. To save face, al-Abadi looks at his watch as if to say “WELL LOOK AT THE TIME! I have PLACES TO BE!” and then scuttles away, mortified.
And that, my friends, is the story of how World War III started.
