The Starbucks “red cup” controversy reached a fever-pitch this week when Donald Trump piled on suggesting a boycott of the coffee giant. Now, people are pissed about Christmas sweaters.
Target is selling a red “OCD: Obsessive Christmas Disorder,” sweater, one of a line of “ugly” holiday sweaters designed for trendy holiday parties where people wear their tackiest Xmas worst. But some shoppers are upset by the message which they think makes fun of obsessive compulsive disorder —which affects about 2.2 million American adults, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. AdWeek says that Target is just one of a number of stores that are marketing the sweater this season. A Target spokesperson said;
“We never want to disappoint our guests and we apologize for any discomfort. We currently do not have plans to remove this sweater.”
