Bob Bonis managed tours of the Rolling Stones and The Beatles and he shot photos along the way. His collection of 2,700 Stones and 750 Beatles snapshots are now being sold on eBay. The young Brit musicians wanted an experienced American manager to organize their travels in the US, and they got Bonis to take the job. Over the numerous tours from ’64-66, Bonis photographed private moments with these legendary rock stars in their prime. Bob died in 1992 and until in 2008, when his son Alex rediscovered the one-of-a-kind archive, they’d been stored for over 40 years in a basement. He partnered with Kurt Benjamin of the LA-based Rare Rock Archives to create The Bonis Archive.

“We’re not in the merchandise business. We will never do an open edition of any photos from our archive ever.”

Once an edition sells out it’ll never be reprinted. The Bonis Archive is now on sale in editions between 50 and 250, from $175 to $625. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Grammy Museum. They are all pretty amazing, as you can see. Not like Annie Leibovitz‘s famous 70s tour pics of the Stones with the boys seriously misbehaving, Bob’s pics were taken in the hedy days of their early stardom. A bit surprising that of all the internet outlets that exists that they chose eBay, but I guess in order to make the photographs accessible to fans all over the world it was a good choice. LA street artist Plastic Jesus put a life-sized gold Oscars statue snorting cocaine on Hollywood Boulevard, just yards from the red carpet (and World of Wonder’s offices.) The gold guy is snorting coke on his hands and knees, and popped up for just a few hours yesterday before being removed by the artist. Plastic Jesus told the Daily News:

“We’re deluded if we’re saying that cocaine isn’t a major part of Hollywood and almost every other city in the world. A lot of people will sit down and watch the Oscar show this Sunday and then go and indulge in cocaine. I want to cause controversy about the issue. But I don’t want to cause controversy about the placement. I didn’t want a confrontation. The piece is out there. People have posted it. It got enough publicity to get people to think.”

Last year, Plastic Jesus created a similar statue of a life-sized Oscar statue injecting heroin which followed the tragic death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died of an overdose.

UPDATE: When word got out the “Oscar coke statue” was just up the street, Adam, James and Blake RUSHED over to the spot, only to find it gone… as they wrote me, “sad face.”

Here’s everything inside the $168,000 Oscar-nominee Swag Bag

The 87th Annual Academy Awards are tonight, everyone wants to win, but as the cliché goes, it’s an honor just to be nominated. Seriously, don’t feel bad for the so-called losers. They’ll get to go home with a gift bag worth $167,586.76. But really, you can’t get this much stuff into a bag or even a station wagon, you’ll need a small moving van to get all these freebies home. Just to be clear, they aren’t really freebies as you’ll also get a 1099 from the IRS, apparently, even if you turn down the gift bag or donate it to a charity.

Twenty-one gift bags will go out to host, Neil Patrick Harris and losing nominees in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director. This year’s swag haul is the most expensive ever, more than double last year’s $85,000 bag. In addition to lip gloss and lollipops, this year’s gift bag includes a $1200 bike by Martone Cycling, $12,500 “glamping” trip and $20,000 worth of unlimited Audi car rentals for a year. There’s also “sexy” stuff; the $250 Afterglow Pulsewave Vibrator, the $5,000 Couple’s “Love Shot” orgasm booster, and $28 worth of Naked Luxury Condoms. This all seems insane, right? But the hope of these brands is that the celebs will actually like the product and be seen using it (the vibrator & condoms, maybe not.) PR guru Katharine D. Paine says:

“Part of me says this whole thing is one big joke, but really it’s not. It’s part ‘desperation’ on the part of small brands wanting to be bigger.”

It’s also business advisers who think that by getting their clients in the gift bag, it will get them tons of press. Well, they all made The Wow Report, anyway… have a look.

Producer & director, Michael Bay, known for his action-packed big-budget blockbusters like the Transformers & Armageddon has built this spectacular party pad in the Hollywood Hills. Architect Chad Oppenheim (who designed a never-build apartment building in Miami that I bought into. His designs are minimal and spectacular. His original plan for this 30,000-square-foot, three-story house, with a 40-seat digital theater, was modeled on another unrealized pro­­posal for a group of Caribbean villas. Bay, who is based in Miami, uses the house just for parties during trips to LA:

“I wanted the house to have the feel of a resort. I looked at the first sketch Chad showed me and said, ‘That’s the house I want!’”

The huge house makes a fairly discreet impression from the street side, with much of it built into the hillside. According to Architectural Digest:

Once encountered straight on, however, the scheme is a tour de force of architectural acrobatics, its breathtaking overhangs and column-free spans engendering a palpable sense of weightlessness. This quality is perhaps most eloquently expressed in the two independent volumes balanced atop the house’s main level—one a bedroom suite for Bay, the other for VIP guests.

Amazing what money will buy, huh? (Bay’s estimated net worth is north of $400 million, btw) But one thing it doesn’t buy is good taste, something more evident in his architectural and design choices and less so in his films, if you ask me. To illustrate, he just won a Razzie for Worst Director of 2014 – I know, I’m sure he’s crying all the way to the bank.

Last month I posted the deal of the century; an duplex on Minetta Lane in the West Village for $10 a month. Now here’s the MOST expensive rental in New York City (by quite a lot.) The 39th floor of the Pierre Hotel, rents for $500,000 a month. Uh-huh, $6 million dollars a year. (As a comparison, one of the most expensive apartments in the city offered by Corcoran, on the market for $60 million, would cost you $290,000 a month for for mortgage, maintenance and taxes. Of course, you’d need to plop down $12 million…) The Pierre’s’s Presidential Suite (which is $20,000 a night) combines with other suites to form this full-floor, 4,786-square-foot, 6 bedroom, 6 bath, (no kitchen) suite. The major selling point of being at the Pierre are the over-the-top hotel amenities, which include twice daily maid service, an on-call physician, two restaurants (which, btw, you’ll need without a kitchen) butler service and a chauffeur-driven Jaguar. To say nothing of that lobby and view of the park. If this seems a bit steep, they also have a one bedroom there with a park view for $120,000 a month.

It’s a chance for all lovers of drag culture – young and old, gay and straight – to come together, to inspire each other, and to let their freak flags fly high.”

RuPaul’s DragCon will kick off the Gay Pride season with a fierce new twist. DragCon creators expect several thousand attendees to experience a glittering weekend with the largest ever gathering of drag queens and gay icons. The convention will feature over 100 vendors and exhibitors, panel discussions, screenings, autographs, and photo opportunities.

Spearheaded by RuPaul and World of Wonder, RuPaul’s DragCon will give a platform for fans – gay and straight – to meet and interact with world famous drag queens and other celebrity guests in a fan friendly environment. DragCon will include a wide range of programming:

• “Everything You Wanted to Know about Tucking but Were Afraid to Ask,”
• “Lady MacBeth to Lady Gaga: Drag in the Mainstream”

I was more than a little worried. How could Lady Gaga follow John Legend and Common? They BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN. And Gaga, let’s face it, has been on a bit of a downward spiral lately. ArtPop was a big FartPoop. And her little monsters didn’t really care about her journey into the All-American songbook with Tony Bennett. This could very well have been the nail in her career. You groaned a little every time host Neil Patrick Harris said she was coming up next, didn’t you? Then when you heard him announce she was singing a Sound of Music medley, you AAAAAALMOST turned the channel. But you hung in there. And you were rewarded. BOY, how you were rewarded! Gaga was in rare form. She sang, no, by god, she WAILED on those songs, showing us a versatility we had all but forgotten she possessed.

As one YouTuber put it:

“Gaga here makes a historical statement.. that Pop Singers must be able to sing well (that the ex-porn star Madonna had persuaded us for years it was the opposite!).. Not only she sings an Iconic song identified with a true Goddess (Andrews) and does not make a fool of herself.. but she actually makes it her own and sings her Heart out of it… and yes it is semi operatic placement! Her middle voice has amazing dark colors.. when she began Edelweiss I went ballistic! I teared up.. she brings back the era of Streisand, Garland, Fitzgerald etc.”

Indeed.

Gaga soared last night, and her performance probably gave her another 20 years of shelf life. Let’s watch it again and again and again.

It was THE Oscar moment of 2015. Well, not really, but you know it was pitched in the meeting as THE VIRAL EVENT that would set the gay blogosphere ON FIRE.  NPH in his tighty-whiteys, recreating the iconic Birdman scene. WOW. And he sure filled out them drawers, didn’t he? Except that he didn’t. Neil admitted in a post-Oscar interview on Live! with Kelly & Michael, that the underwear was PADDED. RIGGED. STUFFED. NOT REAL.

Gasp.

But, apparently, not because he COULDN’T fill them out. It’s just that it would be vulgar to do so. Said Harris:

So we did the dress rehearsal, and I just had the pair of regular underwear on. But the lights! They see through things! So the Academy or the network or someone said we had to do something so you couldn’t tell my religion, so what they did was they had to take a second pair and sew it to the first to make it so that you couldn’t sort of see through it.

Can director Danny Boyle pull it off? Michael Fassbender stars as the Apple legend from a talky three-act script by Aaron Sorkin.

Suffragette (TBD, fall)
Writer Abi Morgan‘s story of the early days of the feminist movement needs a U.S. distributor, but that shouldn’t be tough with stars Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter and Carey Mulligan.

Trumbo (Bleecker Street, TBD)
Bryan Cranston stars in Jay Roach‘s look at blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, whose story could resonate with Oscar voters looking to make amends.

Last week we reported that AHS: Freakshow star Ben Woolf (who played fan-favorite Meep) was hit in the head by a passing car’s mirror while he was crossing a Hollywood street. Sadly, TMZ has reported that he suffered a stroke today at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and died. He was 34.

A rep for the actor told E! News in statement:

“Ben was one-of-a-kind, and will never be forgotten. The time we all shared together will be remembered forever.”

Woolf’s family told TMZ:

“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from all over the world for our beloved Ben. He touched so many hearts in his 34 years.”

Co-workers have been tweeting their condolences.

Last night at the Season 7 New York premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the Lady Bunny was the DJ and as usual she had something to say when the Huffington Post asked her if Drag Race was political:

“Drag does have the potential [to be subversive or political] but that’s not what anyone is looking for from ‘Drag Race.’ Sharon Needles was a bit political, a vegetarian, outspoken on a variety of issues, more evolved, enlightened thinking, but this is basically about runway and attitude. So I don’t think there’s much politics. I also think that when I was growing up in the ‘70s and even in the ‘80s, drag was something that gay men went to see in gay bars. So just the very fact that gay people could not be out of the closet, it was very freeing for gay men to go into a club and say, ‘Wow! There’s someone that’s not only not afraid to be gay, but they’re walking around as a transsexual.’ So I think for my generation drag was a very ‘F-YOU’ to the conventions that kept us in the closet. But now we’re not longer in the closet and drag is on TV, so just doing drag in itself is not subversive at all anymore. It could be! I’m very interested in politics, but at the age of these queens I wouldn’t even like your political post on Facebook! Especially if it had nothing to do with gay rights. But this show isn’t political in any way.”

Did you know that there are 34 governments in Europe that still force transgender people to undergo sterilization, divorce, and/or a diagnosis of mental illness to be allowed to change their name or gender? Transgender Europe (TGEU.org) has a new video showing that for most trans people in Europe, it is very difficult and often incredibly humiliating to get a passport other identity documents with their correct name and gender. In fact, 34 countries in Europe still do not allow a trans person to change their name and registered gender without invasive and abusive requirements that violate their human rights.

The 34 countries in question are: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. In addition, there are 14 countries in Europe that do not have any laws at all to allow a change of name and gender.
