Ru, looking luscious on the cover of British gay mag Attitude, says she doesn’t think drag will ever be a truly mainstream proposition.

“I don’t think drag will ever truly be mainstream, because of everything that our culture holds dear. Drag’s whole purpose is to mock society; to call out hypocrisy. It will never been mainstream because people feel very at home with their hypocrisy and their double-standards. Looking back over the history of mankind, it was the shaman, the witchdoctor, who would remind mankind not to take itself too seriously.”

She also addresses the long-rumored plans to launch a UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race:

“It’s really up to the people who put on television shows! It’s not my call. I would love for it to happen,but it’s not something I decide! You can’t explain that to people… But of course, I would love to.”

Andrew Garfield is too old, of course. And after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 received – how shall we say? – somewhat tepid reviews, he’s OUT. Sony needs to reboot the franchise AGAIN, with someone young and dynamic. Enter WOW Report favorite Dylan O’Brien, who will probably owe me a percentage off the back end for promoting him so relentlessly year after year. His star is definitely on the rise after The Maze Runner earned a whopping $340 million, and I think everyone in Hollywood agrees he’d KILL it as Spidey.

Also up for the role: Young Logan Lerman, who was so good in last year’s Fury and Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have a friend who frequently sees Logan in the locker room at the gym and reports that he is DEFINITELY fit enough to don the lycra Spidey costume. Was that creepy of me? Sorry.

Another dark horse to consider, though: Devin Druid (below), who recently wowed as the young Louis CK in… duh… Louis, and is said to be spectacular in the upcoming Louder than Bombs. The kid’s got the poignant nerdiness of a young Michael Cera and the volcanic talent of a young Jesse Eisenberg – plus he’s been campaigning hard for the role on social media, so who knows if the casting gods will give him a chance. He’s good, though, and might be just the kind of Peter Parker-esque underdog the role requires.

As for the plot of the new Spidey franchise, Ecumenical News reports:

Spiderman will step into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “Captain America 3: Civil War” in which he plays a crucial role. Comic book fans know that he will usher in a new flock of superheroes after the death of Captain American in the third movie. However, MoviePilot notes that it is unclear how the Marvel-Sony collaboration will handle Spiderman’s story since the reboot. Will Marvel go back to Spiderman’s origin story in high school or will it show him as a married man as he is during the “Civil War” story? Fans would definitely like to see him grow up since many movie-goers already know about his origin story. However, it is clear that Spiderman will appear in “Civil War” before Marvel-Sony ventures to make a stand-alone movie of the friendly, neighborhood spider.

“She’ll Be Back” is a song that Stephen Sondheim wrote for Meryl Streep’s witch character that was left on the cutting room floor for some capricious reason. It did, however, make it into the extras on Blu-Ray/digital version of the film though, and now we get to enjoy it in all its glory.

It takes place right after the witch’s confrontation with Rapunzel, featuring a bitter witch lying to herself about the personality of her “daughter” and the fallout of her own selfish actions that drove her away. The song will be included in the Blu-Ray/digital versions of the film when it’s released on March 24th, but you can watch the cut scene (via Towleroad)

East London’s alternative drag scene seemed to explode in the early 2000’s, and at the front of the trashy revolution were a handful of queens, featured in the new documentary Dressed As A Girl. I witnessed the whole shape-shifting first hand while living in London right at the beginning, hanging with my bestie and one of the stars of the film, Scottee (pictured below). “Was our scene truly alternative? I think it was, says Scottee. But with the commercial successes of Drag Race, Little Britain & Gaga (for better or worse), what we did seems less scary to the outside world – perhaps we exist in a new post-drag world. My ego would love to tell you London has been influenced by us, but I don’t think it has. I think our legacy is yet to be fulfilled, but it won’t be because we wore outré outfits!”

Director Colin Rothbart spent five years following the principal characters who talk about their dragtastic times and the personal demons that often hide beneath the mascara. Starring Jonny Woo, Scottee,  Holestar (WOW contributor), Amber, John Sizzle and Pia Arber. Producers include World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, and Chris Amos. With 5,000 attending each year, The Black Party is one of longest running and highly anticipated and biggest gay dance parties on earth. The Panorama of the City of New York was commissioned for 1964 World’s Fair by Robert Moses, considered the “master builder” of mid-20th century New York City, Long Island, Rockland and Westchester Counties. It took 100 people over three years to create some 35,000 buildings individually crafted and painted by hand. New York City covers 469 square miles and at a scale of one inch to 100 feet, the panorama’s Empire State Building stands 15 inches tall and the Statue of Liberty is less than two. In Manhattan, the windows of skyscrapers were painted with phosphorescent paint so they cast a glow in the twilight hours. As it is in real life, structures in the outer boroughs didn’t receive as much attention. The panorama has 256 ten-by-four-foot panels and updates to it have been sparring over the past 50 years. The more recent buildings are not made by hand but of laser-etched plastics or plexiglass which stand out on the over 10,000 square foot expanse of wood, brass and model shrubbery. The Queens Museum Archives Manager Louise Weinberg when asked about whether the museum will account for the city’s changing skyline in the panorama over time, she said:

“It’s a philosophical question. I want it to be frozen in time. The real question is, is this an artifact? It’s already been altered, but when’s the cutoff point?”

The city’s composition has changed since 1964 but it was last updated over 20 years ago in 1992. In the museum’s “Adopt-a-Building” initiative, people can pay to have their buildings erected. The Yankees paid to have their new stadium added, likewise the Mets with Citi Field. Other than that, things have largely remained the same the past 50 years. Upkeep of the panorama is actually quite pricey to add new buildings. At one time, a single new building could cost up to $3,000. The Twin Towers still stand tall at the tip of Manhattan and Weinberg says she hasn’t yet made a decision about how to treat the panorama; whether it should be an artifact, a memorial or a sculpture that reflects the ever-changing city:

“Museums are repositories of artifacts and dreams and aspirations. It would be great if a ‘Donald Trump figure’ could reach into his pocket and say, ‘Here’s $100,000 a year for upkeep.”

Meanwhile, school buses filled with wide-eyed kids continue to roll up to the museum every day of the week…

The Hamptons are THE premiere get away spot on the East End of Long Island and being “north of the highway” or “south of the highway” is a descriptive that says everything about your real estate. But for all of the most affluent, being beach-front is next to impossible. Architects Harry Bates and Paul Masi had to brave a variety of quagmires over this ¼-acre lot, an investment property left vacant for decades which was ultimately declared to be in a protected wetland. The owners had to negotiate just to build even the smallest dwelling imaginable. Masi says:

“They fought that to the state supreme court.”

A legal judgment ultimately allowed the architects to construct on a footprint of 15 by 20 feet. Even more challenging, the structure had to be more than 6 feet above-grade but no more than 25 feet tall. The septic system and rainwater runoff were hidden in the front yard which was filled with sand and planted with beach grass. Floor to ceiling walls of glass let in the sun, bathing the living space with Long Island light. Every detail has been carefully thought out, from the Sonos sound system to the hidden Miele appliances to the custom indoor and outdoor lighting to the skylight topped lightwell that pierces through the house. It has an ocean view, beach rights an outdoor shower… and, the best part? With the Atlantic just 250 ft away, a access path directly to your own stretch of nearly private beachfront. Price: $1.65 million. Not cheap, but in some ways this a rare bargain for modernist Hamptons-obsessed beach lovers that someone will be very happy in.

She threatened to leave last week and it seems widespread criticism of Giuliana Rancic‘s recent comments has contributed to Kelly Osbourne quiting Fashion Police. The network announced late Friday…

“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities. We would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers.”

The show will return as scheduled on Friday, March 30, at 9 p.m., but no decisions have been made on her replacement. When Guiliana Rancic made comments after the Oscars about Zendaya‘s dreadlocks and how they looked like they smelled of “patchouli” or “weed,” Osbourne threatened on Twitter to leave the show unless…

“the situation was rectified like ADULTS by both parties.”

Rancic first apologized via Twitter by writing that she meant to refer to Zendaya’s dreadlocks…

“as a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!”

She also apologized at length during an E! News broadcast later that day:

“I’ve learned a lot today, and this incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of clichés and stereotypes, how much damage they can do – and that I am responsible, as we all are, to not perpetuate them further.”

A source told People magazine that Osbourne was frustrated about how little the network had been using her, especially during the awards season:

“What’s funny is Kelly was fighting for airtime and wanted to talk on the Oscar show.”

SNL sparked a Twitter frenzy early Sunday their ISIS parody. 50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson and the spoofed a the Toyota commercial where a father drops his daughter off at the airport as she sets off to join the Army that lampoons the recent swarm of young girls who have fled to Syria to shack up with the extremists. At the end the father tells an ISIS thug:

“Take care of her”

…to which he responds in a whisper;

“Death to America.”

This, not surprisingly, this didn’t sit well with some people on social media. Whomever Ed Tate is, he was fuming mad….

“Is ISIS really a good subject for humor?”

But others approved…

“Seriously? SNL is being criticized for mocking Isis, and the people who join it? There’s no group more deserving of ridicule. Thumbs up #SNL”

The pictorial series Wounderland, created by the artist collective Mothmeister, “portrays anonymous, ugly masked creatures as a reaction against the dominant exhibitionism of the selfie culture and beauty standards marketed by the mass media.” The images of these lonesome and frankly terrifying characters accompanied by taxidermied animals (often in Victorian getups) are the just the kind of nightmare fuel to get your Mondays off to a bang. We all know he’s an ass and a narciscist and one of the most annoying men on the planet. But there are also times, when he’s at the top of his game and just tripping along to his own groove, when he comes pretty close to perfection. Here he is on Skavlan, one of Scandinavia’s largest TV shows, on an illuminated stage with his signature auto-tune sound, masterfully singing about a conversation he had with his dead mother in “Only One” (his collab with Paul McCartney).
